The visualization displays a drastic increase in Uber rides during the Major League Baseball game played against the Kansas City Royals and the New York Yankees at the Yankees Stadium located in the Bronx. The much awaited, 3-day game had 34,584 fans in attendance, and the same trend can be observed in the following weekends with other baseball games played in the stadium.

The increase in Uber rides during this weekend can also be attributed to a Baseball game played between the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees with 42,067 people in attendance at the Yankees Stadium.

The North American Blizzard, or also known as the Winter Storm Juno, was a category 3 “Major” blizzard that dumped approximately 3 feet of snowfall in parts of New England. Due to the severe weather conditions, the storm disrupted transportation, as snow emergencies and travel bans were declared in six states: Connecticut, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, as well as New York City. The blizzard formed on January 23rd and dissipated on January 31st, reaching its near peak intensity on January 27th as reflected by the sudden drop in Uber rides on that date.

New York City's Pride season kicked off on Sunday, June 7th in Jackson Heights with the 23rd Annual Queens Pride, the second largest pride parade and the most diverse of all the borough Prides. The annual tradition attracts crowds of over 40,000 spectators and some 1,000 marchers.

On June 13th, the Irish Fair's opening event attracted about 1,000 people to the Staten Island Boys Football League grounds in Travis, Staten Island. The gates open from noon to 7:30 pm each day over the weekend, and this trend can be seen in the relatively high amount of pickups between 7pm and 8pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

Taking place on June 27th at Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden, the Staten Island Pride Fest will feature live music, artists, craft vendors, food trucks, drag performers, beverage areas, and more. The day kicks off with a Pride Day 5K PrideFest Run/Walk around the beautiful 83-acre campus.

On June 26th, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a long-awaited ruling, giving same-sex couples the right to marry in all 50 states, resulting in marches and parades across the nation, including bringing about a celebration of 22,000 people marching in a 2-mile route and more than 2 million spectators filing the streets of Manhattan for the Gay Pride Parade. During this weekend, people might prefer Uber rides over taking their own vehicles due to limited parking options on the streets in Manhattan and surrounding boroughs within New York City.

VARIABLE KEY:
Using the NYC Uber Pickups with Weather and Holidays dataset provided by Kaggle, an analysis comparing the number of pickups to a variety of environmental conditions was conducted in efforts of finding the most correlated variable. Although weather conditions, unless severe, are not expected to have as much of an effect on the demand of Uber rides when compared to time of day, for example, some boroughs did show to have a considerable correlation value (between 0 to 1). After generating correlation matrices for each borough, it was evident that the temperature in Fahrenheit, Dew Point temperature, and snow in inches had the most significant impact on the increase or decrease in rides throughout the time period.
